We’re delighted to share some incredible news: Blackburne House has been shortlisted for the 2025 National Diversity Awards in the Community Organisation – Gender category!

This national recognition is a celebration of everything Blackburne House stands for—empowering women, breaking down barriers, and building an inclusive future where all women can thrive.

For over 40 years, we’ve worked with thousands of women across the Liverpool City Region, creating a safe and inspiring space for learning, wellbeing, childcare and community. From our award-winning education programmes to our social enterprises—including our bistro, wellness centre, conference space, and nursery—every aspect of Blackburne House is driven by a commitment to equity and opportunity.

Being shortlisted means so much to us. It’s a tribute to:

  • The incredible women who have walked through our doors and changed their lives—and the lives of their families.

  • The staff and volunteers who bring energy, heart and purpose to everything they do.

  • The partners, funders, and friends who have believed in our mission and helped us grow.

  • And the community that continues to support and shape us every step of the way.

This year, the awards ceremony will take place in September at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. We’ll be standing among inspiring individuals and organisations from across the UK who are committed to championing diversity, inclusion, and change.

Between now and then, we’ll be sharing stories, memories and reflections on what this nomination signifies—and what it’s taken to get here. Because this isn’t just our story—it’s a shared one. If Blackburne House has been part of your journey, we’d love to hear from you. You can tag us on social media or share your thoughts using the hashtag #MyBlackburneStory.

Thank you for believing in what we do and for all your votes and nominations. We’re proud to be recognised—but even prouder of the women and communities that continue to make Blackburne House the force for change it is today.

We’ve got our fingers and toes crossed for the awards ceremony. Wish us luck!
