LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

Here at Blackburne House Nursery, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework which was updated in 2021. As stated by the Department for Education, "The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life." Our Nursery is divided into 4 rooms:

The Lady Bird Room

Our Lady Bird Room caters for babies and toddlers from 0 to 2 years and can accommodate up to 6 infants. The environment in this room is stimulating with staff encouraging babies and toddlers to develop at their own pace whilst ensuring their individuals needs are met with careful planning.

The Grasshopper Room

Our Grasshopper Room caters for toddlers from 2 to 3 years and can accommodate up to 14 children. Activities for the children are carefully selected in line with enhancing their sensory development through games and play.

The Bumblebee Room

Our Bumblebee Room can accommodate up to 8 children from the ages of 3 years and follows the same practice as The Butterfly Room, children are encouraged to participate in play opportunities and activities initiated by their peers in order to enhance their personal, social and emotional development.

The Butterfly Room

Our Butterfly Room caters for children aged 3 and 4 years old and can accommodate up to 8 children who are encouraged to participate in activities that promote independent learning to support school readiness skills in preparation for the children to start primary school.
