Our Level 3 Health and Social Care students recently benefited from an inspiring visit to the Health and Social Care Campus at Coleg Cambria, a major Further Education college in North Wales. This marks an exciting milestone in what we hope will be a long-standing and meaningful relationship.

The visit provided learners with valuable access to high-quality facilities and specialist resources, offering them a broader perspective on the range of progression routes and career opportunities available within the health and social care sector. Students took part in a variety of practical and exploratory activities designed to deepen their understanding of both academic study and real-world healthcare environments.

For many learners, the day was an eye-opening experience that helped them visualise potential next steps beyond their current course. Exposure to virtual ward settings and experiences supported students in gaining confidence, widening their aspirations, and reinforcing the relevance of their studies to future employment and higher-level training.

“This visit represents the first of many collaborative opportunities planned through our growing relationship with Coleg Cambria” says Louise Nixon, Director of Education at Blackburne House. “By working together, both institutions aim to share best practice, expertise, and resources to enhance learner experiences across provision.”

“As a smaller FE college, our strength lies in the personalised, in-depth learning support we can offer our students. Through collaborations such as this, we are also able to complement that support by giving learners access to specialist facilities and experiences they might not otherwise encounter, ensuring they receive the best of both worlds.” - Louise Nixon, Director of Education

Staff from both colleges have highlighted the value of collaboration, recognising how shared approaches to teaching, learning, and student support can strengthen outcomes for learners across the region.

We are proud to support our health and social care students in exploring their ambitions and developing the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to progress successfully. This visit is an excellent example of how working together can open doors and create meaningful opportunities, and we look forward to working together in the months ahead.
