Applications for the Police Preparation Programme are now open!

Blackburne House have an exciting opportunity on offer for those looking to transform their lives and get into the police force. We're working with Merseyside Police to deliver a pre-apprenticeship training course. Join the course to boost your skills, in order to apply for a three-year Police Officer apprenticeship.




The three-week preparation programme is aimed at individuals aged 17+ from BAME backgrounds and women. Applications from males will still be accepted for the programme.

To be eligible for the course, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a British citizen, an EC/EEA national or a Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the UK

  • Hold Level 2 English and Maths qualifications

  • Be in good health, including fitness and eyesight

  • Have no criminal record

  • Tattoos are at the discretion of different forces but generally speaking no visible ones

  • A reasonable credit history no CCJs etc.

  • No links to extreme groups BNP etc

  • No close family members linked to crime

To receive this programme fully funded, applicants must:

  • Have a Liverpool City Region postcode

  • Be in receipt of means tested benefits or earning less than £18,500 per year

  • Have lived in the UK for 3 years, or have eligible status (we can check this if needed)

The programme will be delivered online using Zoom. It is an intensive course, with sessions taking place Monday to Friday from 9:30-4:30 for the duration of the three weeks. We have a Laptop Loan Scheme available for those who need it.


If you are interested in signing up, information sessions, in conjunction with Merseyside Police, will be held on Thursday 01/07/21, 10- 12pm am and 1- 3pm. The course will then start on Monday 5th July.
