That’s why the School for Social Entrepreneurs exists.

 

The School for Social Entrepreneurs in the North West (SSE NW) was launched in Liverpool in 2007 in partnership with Blackburne House, one of the country’s leading social enterprises. As part of the international School for Social Entrepreneurs team, it now supports Social Entrepreneurs and Community Business Leaders from across the North West to start, scale and strengthen organisations that make a positive difference.

 

Despite what our name says, we’re not a traditional school; learning with SSE is inspiring, action-based and accessible. We support people in other ways too, such as funding, action learning and mentoring.

 

From ground breaking programmes in Cultural Leadership, Social Innovation in Health and Wellbeing to Young Enterprise and the SSE’s first ever Environmental Entrepreneurs programme, SSE NW have helped thousands of people develop the skills, strengths and networks they need to tackle society’s biggest problems. In turn, they help millions of people in need.

Applications are now open for the following programmes:

 

Women’s Enterprise Growth Programme

 

This exciting new programme will support women aged 18-35 living or working in London and Liverpool to develop the skills, strengths and networks required to grow purpose-led enterprises and in turn create new jobs for underserved communities.

The programme is run by The School for Social Entrepreneurs with support from Youth Business International (YBI) and funded by Standard Chartered Foundation as part of Futuremakers by Standard Chartered.

Participants will get a free 8-day learning programme, bespoke 1:1 business development and modelling support, a supportive peer network and the chance to pitch for one of four Match Trading grants of up to £7,000.

Socially Trading Organisations (STOs) Maturing Markets Trade Up Programme

​

Supporting Socially Trading Organisations from across the Liverpool City Region this programme supports STOs to develop the skills, strengths and networks required to grow their income and social impact. You will benefit from a fully funded 6-month learning programme consisting of 8 days of focused study (a combination of in-person and online),4 action learning sessions, bespoke 1:1 business development support, a supportive peer network and the chance to pitch for social investment.

The STO Maturing Markets Trade Up Programme is run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) as part of the wider STO Maturing Markets Programme in partnership with Kindred and Capacity. This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority as the lead authority.
